GeoGreen Biofuels, Inc.
Business Overview
GeoGreen Biofuels, Inc. is a Los Angeles-based alternative fuel production
company. GeoGreens business is to recycle and process waste restaurant
fryer oil (WVO) into commercial grade 100% purity biodiesel fuel, and to
market this fuel to distributors, wholesalers and end-users.
Biodiesel is a clean burning, biodegradable, non toxic alternative to
petroleum-based fossil fuels. Until recently, biodiesel made up only a
small portion of worldwide diesel production. As the energy industry
continues its historic shift toward alternative fuels, biodiesel demand
has grown significantly. This shift is primarily due to increasing
worldwide demand for oil, the increasing price of oil, peak oil concerns,
unrest in the Middle East, and increased environmental awareness. GeoGreen's first biodiesel production facility is located in Vernon, CA, approximately 3 miles from downtown Los Angeles, and is scheduled to be fully operational in January 2010. This first pilot plant is uniquely
situated within the Los Angeles city limits, in a 19,800 square foot
indoor facility, providing GeoGreen with distinct localization advantages
in the WVO recycling and biodiesel markets.
The majority of GeoGreens competitors use virgin oil as feedstock to
produce biodiesel. Virgin oil is subject to fluctuating commodity pricing
and supply-side uncertainties caused by global food shortages, ethanol
production and other factors. Many industry experts question its long-term
viability as a basis for biodiesel production. Unlike these competitors,
GeoGreen uses WVO (used fryer oil from restaurants), providing an ongoing,
plentiful, local supply of feedstock to produce biodiesel.
The appeal of biodiesel is greater than ever in the current economic and
social climate. Governments and citizens all over the world are aware of
the environmental impact of fossil fuels. By reducing unburned
hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide emissions, sulfur dioxide
emissions and particulate matter, biodiesel is already making a positive
impact on the environment. Specifically, biodiesel reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 80% compared with petroleum diesel. As reported by The
National Biodiesel Board, In 2007 alone, biodiesels contribution to
reducing greenhouse gas emissions was the equivalent of removing 700,000
passenger vehicles from Americas roadways.
GeoGreen is a rare business that merges social responsibility and
progressive global thinking with quality products in an established,
growing market.
